This finely wrought image of stupa likely represents the great monument of Swambhunath in the Kathmandu valley, the focus of Newar Buddhist veneration. Almost every Newar Buddhist household would contain a small image of this great stupa, but this sculpture is finer than most. The proportions approach perfection.
