This is a rare early depiction of a Lama, possibly one of the Lamas of the lineage of Taglung Monastery in Central Tibet, in a piece clearly intended to be attached to the crown of a deity. It is rare to find an image of a Lama in the crown of a deity, but several other examples are known.
